2020-2021 FCAVTS School Reopening Health and Safety Plan

2020 – 2021 Adult Student Health and Safety Plan

Dear Parents and students,
First, let me thank you for your support and understanding as we, as a nation and community, responded to the unexpected invasion of COVID-19 in March. I am very proud of the way our Fulton County AVTS, students, parents, staff, and community leaders handled the demands we were faced with to protect everyone as we continued to educate students during the most unusual of circumstances following the Governor’s order to close schools on March 13, 2020.
As you know, there continues to be concerns and questions related to how schools plan to reopen. The FCAVTS will be starting school on August 19, 2020 delivering our traditional face-to-face instruction. While we are in the business of educating, our first priority is the safety of our students and our staff. Be assured, we had been working diligently on our Health and Safety Plan which was approved by our Joint Operating Committee and is posted on our website for your review at
The FCAVTS will be delivering face to face instruction while our county is in the “green phase”. We will continue school as normal with enhanced safety precautions in place such as Plexiglas barriers, increased hand sanitizer availability, face coverings, increased frequency of hand washing and cleaning of high touch areas, limited visitation to schools, etc. in order to possibly prevent the transition of COVID-19.
To every extent feasible, students should be socially distanced six feet apart pursuant to CDC and PDE guidelines. If six feet is not achievable in the classroom setting, students should be spaced to the maximum extent possible and are required to wear a face covering for their protection and the protection of others.

Although temperature screening will not be required upon entrance to school for students, we require the assistance of parents/guardians to perform symptom screening on their student at home each morning before the school day. No student with symptoms should be sent on a bus or brought to school.

If Fulton County enters the “yellow phase” or we have outbreaks of COVID-19 in our participating school districts, FCAVTS will adhere to the schedules identified by our participating districts in their Health and Safety Plans. If applicable, our delivery for online instruction will mirror that outlined in our Continuity of Education Plan which was instituted following the school closures in March and can be viewed on our website.

I encourage our parents/guardians and students to frequently visit our webpage and follow our social media for up to date and accurate information. This has been and continues to be a challenging time for all of you.  Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support as we strive to do what is best for ALL of our students and staff during these challenging times. Please continue to stay safe and healthy.

Warm regards,
